What is the UN Peacebuilding Commission (PBC)?

The United Nations Peacebuilding Commission (PBC) is an intergovernmental advisory body established in 2005 through UN General Assembly and Security Council resolutions. It is tasked with supporting efforts to build and sustain peace in conflict-affected countries and ensuring that these nations do not relapse into violence.

Objectives of the PBC

  1. Support Peacebuilding Efforts: Assist countries transitioning from conflict to peace by advising on strategies to prevent conflict resurgence.
  2. Ensure International Coordination: Serve as a platform for fostering collaboration among international stakeholders, including governments, donors, and development agencies.
  3. Advocate for Resources: Mobilize and sustain financial and political resources for post-conflict recovery and development.

Functions of the PBC
