Operation Eleven: Special Crowd Management Plan for ‘Amrit Snan’ on Basant Panchami at Maha Kumbh
The Uttar Pradesh government has devised a special crowd management plan named ‘Operation Eleven’ for the ‘Amrit Snan’ on Basant Panchami at Maha Kumbh, which will take place on Monday. The plan, developed under strict instructions from Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, aims to ensure the smooth movement of devotees and prevent overcrowding.
Key Measures Under Operation Eleven:
- Strict Enforcement of One-Way Route:
- A one-way traffic system will be strictly implemented on Basant Panchami Snan day to ensure smooth movement of devotees.
- Traffic diversions and increased barricades will regulate congestion, especially at pontoon bridges and bathing ghats.
- Enhanced Security at Key Locations:
- Tightened security at New Yamuna Bridge, with additional Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) forces and reinforced bridge railings.
- Motorcycle patrol squads for continuous monitoring.
- Special Monitoring at Shastri Bridge:
- PAC company and a senior officer deployed at Shastri Bridge to manage traffic from Jhunsi to Sangam.
- Crowd Control at Tikarmafi Turn:
- A CAPF unit under a senior officer deployed for crowd management at Tikarmafi Turn, with traffic diverted via designated routes.
- Special Arrangements at Phaphamau and Pontoon Bridges:
- Motorcycle patrol squads and PAC personnel deployed to monitor crowd movement at Phaphamau and pontoon bridges.
- Railway Stations and Bus Movement Regulation:
- PAC unit stationed at Jhunsi railway station, with increased train frequency coordinated with the railways for pilgrims.
- Special Bus Operations in Jhunsi:
- Temporary bus station at Saraswati Dwar, additional buses stationed at Jhunsi overnight, with shuttle services for smooth transport.
- Enhanced Security at Prayag Junction:
- Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) and police forces deployed at Prayag Junction, with strong barricades at Yudhishthir Chauraha and adequate signage.
- Crowd Management at GT Jawahar and Harshvardhan Chauraha:
- Senior officers, police personnel, and PAC units stationed at Medical College Chauraha and Balson Chauraha for traffic regulation.
- Additional Security and Traffic Control Measures:
- Deployment of additional traffic police and security forces at Andawa and Sahso Chauraha, with motorcycle patrol squads monitoring the area.
- Deployment of Extra Forces:
- Two Rapid Action Force (RAF) companies and three PAC companies deployed at sensitive locations, along with Quick Response Teams (QRTs) and motorcycle patrol squads.
The Maha Kumbh, hosted by the Uttar Pradesh government, began on January 13 and will continue until February 26, with special measures ensuring safety during significant events like the Basant Panchami Amrit Snan.
