Logistics Ease Across Different States (LEADS) 2024’ Report

  1. States Must Develop Action Plans for Better Logistics Planning to Attract Investments
    Shri Piyush Goyal emphasized the need for states to create detailed logistics plans to improve infrastructure and attract investment. He highlighted the importance of regional and city-level logistics strategies, especially focusing on last-mile connectivity.
  2. Advocacy for Green Logistics Initiative
    Shri Goyal advocated for green logistics as a way to drive sustainable growth in the logistics sector. This initiative aims to reduce environmental impacts while boosting economic progress.
  3. Leveraging Public-Private Partnerships for Multi-modal Hubs
    The Minister stressed the role of public-private partnerships (PPPs) in ensuring the success of logistics hubs, particularly multimodal hubs, which are essential for improving efficiency and reducing costs in the logistics ecosystem.
  4. Technology Adoption in Logistics
    The adoption of newer technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), and Data Analytics was emphasized as critical for the future success of the logistics sector, helping to optimize operations and decision-making.
  5. Promoting Inclusivity in the Logistics Sector
    Shri Goyal emphasized the importance of gender inclusivity and increasing women’s participation in the logistics industry. He also underscored the role of skill development to enhance the workforce in this sector.
  6. LEAD Framework for Logistics Transformation
    The LEAD framework (Longevity, Efficiency and Effectiveness, Accessibility and Accountability, and Digitalisation) was introduced as a model for transforming the logistics sector, aiming to prepare India for rapid economic growth by 2047.
  7. LEADS 2024 Report Overview
    The LEADS 2024 report evaluates logistics performance across four main pillars: Logistics Infrastructure, Logistics Services, Operating and Regulatory Environment, and Sustainable Logistics. It offers actionable insights for states and UTs, helping them to make informed decisions for improving their logistics systems.
  8. Performance Highlights of LEADS 2024
    The report categorizes states into groups (Achievers, Fast Movers, Aspirers) based on their logistics performance, helping to track the progress and identify opportunities for improvement.
  9. LEAPS 2024 Awards
    The LEAPS 2024 awards recognized outstanding contributions in various logistics categories, including core logistics services, MSMEs, startups, and educational institutions, highlighting innovation and leadership in the sector.
  10. Launch of PM GatiShakti Course
    Shri Goyal launched a 15-hour course on PM GatiShakti for infrastructure planning, available through the iGOT Karmayogi platform and the UGC SWAYAM portal, aimed at building a skilled workforce in logistics and infrastructure.
  11. Logistics Cost Framework by NCAER
    The Logistics Cost Framework report, prepared by NCAER, introduces a methodology to assess logistics costs in India, using both EXIM (export-import) and domestic cargo data. This framework aims to provide a more accurate understanding of logistics costs, helping to identify cost-saving opportunities.
  12. India’s Vision for a $32 Trillion Economy by 2047
    Shri Goyal linked the development of the logistics sector to India’s broader economic vision, which includes becoming a $32 trillion economy by 2047. The initiatives discussed are integral to enhancing the competitiveness of India’s logistics sector, both domestically and globally.
