India and Qatar Sign Agreement to Establish Strategic Partnership / भारत और कतर में रणनीतिक साझेदारी के समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday arrived at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport to personally welcome Amir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani. The Qatar Amir is on a two-day state visit, which will conclude on February 18.

• The Qatar Amir will meet External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and President Droupadi Murmu during his visit.

• On Tuesday, India and Qatar exchanged documents formalizing the establishment of a strategic partnership between the two countries.
• Prime Minister Modi and Amir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani presided over the signing of the agreements in New Delhi.

• The Amir of Qatar arrived on Monday evening for the two-day state visit.
• The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) noted that the visit would provide “further momentum” to the growing multifaceted partnership between India and Qatar.

• Prime Minister Modi and Amir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani held talks at the Hyderabad House, covering a range of bilateral issues.
• Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, and S. Jaishankar, External Affairs Minister of India, exchanged a key agreement during the visit.
• A revised agreement for the avoidance of double taxation and prevention of fiscal evasion related to taxes on income between India and Qatar was also signed.

The signing of these agreements marks an important milestone in the deepening of ties between the two countries.
