The Yogi government  has presented the budget for the financial year 2025-26. The budget amounts to ₹8,08,736.06 crore, marking a 9.8% increase compared to the 2024-25 budget. The Yogi government has focused on the welfare of farmers, youth, women, and children in this budget.

Key points :

1. Focus on Women Empowerment:

• Rani Laxmibai Scooty Scheme for Girl Students:
  • Allocation: ₹400 crore.
  • Objective: To distribute scooties to meritorious college-going girls, fulfilling an election promise made in 2022.

2. Infrastructure Development:

• Expressways:
  • Total allocation: ₹1,050 crore for four new expressways.
    • Agra-Lucknow to Ganga Expressway: ₹900 crore.
    • Vindhya Expressway: ₹50 crore.
    • Ganga Expressway Extension (Meerut-Haridwar): ₹50 crore.
    • Bundelkhand-Rewa Expressway: ₹50 crore.
• AI City in Lucknow: ₹5 crore allocated.
• Technology Translation Research Park: ₹3 crore allocated.

3. Religious Tourism and Development:

• Banke Bihari Ji Maharaj Temple Corridor, Mathura:
  • Allocation: ₹150 crore for land purchase and construction.
• Maa Vindhyavasini Temple Infrastructure, Mirzapur: ₹200 crore allocated.
• Ved Vigyan Kendra, Naimisharanya: ₹100 crore allocated.
• Ayodhya Tourism Infrastructure: ₹150 crore allocated.
• Chitrakoot Tourism Infrastructure: ₹50 crore allocated.

4. Addressing Stray Cattle Issues:

• Allocation: ₹2,000 crore for maintenance of stray cattle.
• Establishment of cow conservation centers: ₹140 crore.
• Strengthening of veterinary hospitals: ₹123 crore.

5. Social Welfare Initiatives:

• Baba Bhim Rao Ambedkar Smarak and Sanskritik Kendra, Lucknow: Proposed to promote Ambedkar’s ideology and work for the deprived sections.
• Zero Poverty Abhiyan:
  • Launched on October 2, 2024 (Gandhi Jayanti).
  • Objective: Identify the poorest families in each Gram Panchayat and raise their annual income to at least ₹1,25,000.

6. Economic Growth and Fiscal Management:

• Budget Outlay: ₹8.09 lakh crore, a 9.8% increase from the previous year.
• Fiscal Deficit: Restricted to 2.97% of GSDP, within FRBM limits.
• GSDP: Projected at ₹27.51 lakh crore for 2024-25.
• Per Capita Income: Increased from ₹52,671 in 2016-17 to ₹93,514 in 2023-24.

7. Renewable Energy and Climate-Friendly Initiatives:

• 23% of the budget allocated to climate-friendly projects, renewable energy, afforestation, agriculture, and carbon neutrality initiatives.

8. Smart City Development:

• ₹145 crore allocated to develop 58 municipal bodies into ideal smart municipal bodies.

9. Welfare for Workers:

• Construction of workers/labor bases at district headquarters with essential facilities like canteens, drinking water, and toilets.

Other important Points :

Zero Poverty Uttar Pradesh Campaign:

• Provision of Rs 250 crore for eradicating poverty and ensuring:
  • Adequate availability of food and clothing.
  • Access to good education, medical care, and housing facilities.
  • Sustainable income for poor families.

2. Clean Air Initiatives:

• UP Clean Air Management Project:
  • Allocation of Rs 98 crore for implementation through a special purpose vehicle (SPV).
• Electric Buses and Charging Stations:
  • Rs 400 crore for purchasing new electric buses.
  • Rs 50 crore for setting up charging stations for these buses.

3. Focus on Clean Energy:

• Solar Rooftop Panels:
  • Rs 20 crore for police department buildings.
  • Rs 100 crore for non-residential buildings of PWD.

4. Support for Women:

• Sakhi Niwas:
  • Rs 1.54 crore allocated for safe and affordable residential facilities for working women in urban areas like Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Prayagraj, Lucknow, Agra, Bareilly, Meerut, Gautam Buddha Nagar, and Ghaziabad.
• Hostels for Working Women:
  • Rs 3.82 crore for constructing women’s hostels.
  • Eight Shramik Mahila Hostels with 500-person capacity each proposed in Gautam Buddha Nagar and Lucknow.

5. Youth-Centric Initiatives:

• Chevening Uttar Pradesh Government Scholarship Programme:
  • Rs 2 crore allocated for scholarships under the UK Government’s Chevening Programme.
  • Five students annually to pursue master’s degrees in the UK.
• Cookery and Bakery Training Scheme:
  • Rs 62.40 lakh allocated for one-month training in cooking and baking at training centers in 18 divisional headquarters.

6. Urban Nutrition Program:

• Annapurna Kitchens:
  • Rs 10 crore allocated to provide affordable, quality, and nutritious food in urban bodies across the state.

7. Infrastructure Development:

• Bridges:
  • Rs 236 crore for a bridge over the Ganga in Prayagraj.
  • Rs 315 crore for a bridge over the Yamuna in Prayagraj.
• Religious Routes:
  • Rs 700 crore for the development and beautification of religious routes.

8. Regional Development Funds:

• Purvanchal Regional Development Fund: Rs 450 crore.
• Bundelkhand Regional Development Fund: Rs 350 crore.

9. Industrial and Scientific Development:

• Science Cities:
  • Rs 5 crore for a Science City in Varanasi.
  • Rs 25 crore for a Science City in Agra.
• Leather Parks:
  • Rs 50 lakh each for leather parks in various districts.
• Chief Minister Textile and Apparel Park:
  • Rs 1 crore allocated for development.

10. Sugar Mill Development:

• New Sugar Mills:
  • Rs 90 crore for a sugar mill and generation plant in Pipraich, Gorakhpur.
  • Rs 50 crore for establishing a sugar mill in Chata, Mathura.

These initiatives reflect the government’s emphasis on poverty alleviation, clean energy, women and youth empowerment, infrastructure, and industrial growth.
